Questions people ask

Don't see yours? Put it in the quote form or email darshan@dragonsmithers.com.

Will you look through my files?

No. Your files stay on your device and I only open what the repair needs, like checking that photos made it across after a data transfer. Nothing is copied off your machine or kept after the job.

If you have something sensitive on it, tell me up front, and back up anything irreplaceable before you hand over any computer, to anyone.

How long does a repair take?

Most jobs are done in 1 to 3 days. Parts that have to be ordered, like a screen or a specific battery, add shipping time, and I'll tell you that when I quote.

Do I need to bring the charger?

Yes, please bring the charger for any laptop. It lets me test charging and run the machine for long tests. If the problem is "it won't charge," the charger may be the culprit, so I need it either way.

Also be ready to sign in, or write down the login, so I can check the fix works on your account.

Which phones do you fix?

iPhone and Android phones. The price depends on the exact model and the part, so put the model in the quote form (iPhone: Settings > General > About; Android: Settings > About phone) and I'll send a firm price before ordering anything.

Back up your phone before any repair if you can. Your photos and data stay on the phone, and I only open what the repair needs.

Do you work on Macs?

Yes. Pick "Mac" in the quote form and tell me the model and what it's doing. I'll tell you up front whether it's something I can fix, before you bring it in.

What if it can't be fixed?

Then you don't pay for the repair. I'll explain what's wrong in writing, what it would take, and whether it's worth it, so you can decide between fixing, upgrading or replacing. If your files are still readable, I can quote moving them to a new machine.

How do I pay?

Ask about payment options when you get your quote.

Is the work guaranteed?

New parts carry their manufacturer's warranty. Ask about coverage on the repair itself when you get your quote.
