Darshan Sanjel

Cybersecurity student who learns by running real systems. I operate a home security lab with a Wazuh SIEM, Proxmox, Active Directory and Pi-hole, worked a university IT help desk, and build and ship my own web tools.

At a glance

What I bring to an IT support, help desk, data center or security role.

  • Google Cloud Cybersecurity Certificate (completed)
  • Front-line support experience at a university help desk
  • Runs a Wazuh SIEM with agents, alerting and a custom dashboard
  • Administers a Proxmox VE hypervisor with VMs, LXC and Docker
  • Windows Server and Active Directory: users, OUs, Group Policy
  • DNS, mail authentication and domain admin for a live domain
  • Writes JavaScript/TypeScript, Bash and Node.js tooling

Projects

Systems I built and run myself, with the stack used for each. The first three have full case studies: the setup, an architecture diagram, and what broke.

Wazuh SIEM: self-hosted security monitoring

  • Deployed a Wazuh all-in-one SIEM on a dedicated Ubuntu VM and enrolled agents on the hypervisor and the SIEM host for log collection and alerting.
  • Routed collected logs through a Node.js and Express proxy into locally hosted language models to draft incident-response write-ups.
  • Built a React dashboard that shows Wazuh alerts and network anomalies next to the native interface.

Proxmox home lab: virtualization and networking

  • Administer a Proxmox VE hypervisor on a repurposed 64 GB laptop running Linux VMs and LXC containers, with TOTP two-factor login.
  • Run Pi-hole in its own LXC for network-wide DNS filtering with Cloudflare upstreams. I took an LVM-thin snapshot before install as a rollback point.
  • Host a GPU-accelerated LLM with a web UI and reach the lab remotely over a Tailscale mesh VPN without opening ports.
  • Traced outages to a static-IP misconfiguration and to a USB Ethernet adapter negotiating at 100 Mb/s with intermittent carrier drops.

Trail Window: weather-window planner

  • Ranks every daylight window in the next five days for a hike, ride or run by rain, wind and feels-like penalties, and shows the scoring math.
  • Parses GPX files in the browser and forecasts conditions at each checkpoint for the hour you'd reach it.
  • The AI trail briefing runs behind a locked-down Cloudflare Worker: server-side API key, CORS allowlist, strict input validation, rate limiting, and a template fallback.
  • Covered by unit tests and Playwright responsive checks at 390, 768 and 1280 px.

DragonSmiths: domain, email and web

  • Administer a Google Workspace tenant: users, 2-Step Verification policy, DKIM signing and billing.
  • Manage A, CNAME, MX and TXT records at the registrar for mail delivery and web routing.
  • Host this site on GitHub Pages with a custom domain, enforced HTTPS, and a verified domain to block subdomain takeover.
